Kent Police were alerted Friday at 1:45 p.m. BST after concerns were raised about two children who entered the river at Royal Pier Road in Gravesend. Emergency services responded and rescued a boy,who was transported to a local hospital. He is currently in stable condition.
The body, later confirmed to be that of the missing girl, was recovered from the river at approximately 11:40 a.m. BST Saturday by Kent Police and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
Formal identification has been completed by the girlS family, according to Kent Police.
Authorities stated the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
