Riyadh Air Takes to the Skies: Trial Flights Underway in Pursuit of Coveted Air Operator License
Riyadh Airlines Takes to the Skies with Test Flights for Air Operator’s License
By Doa Samir
Riyadh Airlines has announced the commencement of test flights as part of its efforts to obtain an air operator’s license. The first test flight is scheduled to take off from Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport on Friday.
These test flights, which may be operated with or without passengers on board, are a crucial step in meeting the requirements set by the General Civil Aviation Authority to obtain an Air Operator’s Certificate. Over the coming months, Riyadh Airlines will conduct multiple test flights to various local and international destinations in preparation for its commercial launch in 2025.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation has expressed its appreciation for the support of its partners in the aviation sector, including Saudi Airlines, Riyadh Airport Company, Aviation Engineering, and Sami Al Salam Aviation Industry. Their collaboration has been instrumental in supplying Riyadh Airlines with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for commercial use.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation is continuing its regulatory work on the project to grant an “Air Operator License (AOC)” to Riyadh Airlines. The fourth phase of the certification process will commence with test flights aimed at ensuring compliance with executive regulations for aviation safety.
