Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – the Riyadh Metro, already transforming the city’s transportation landscape, has taken another leap forward with the launch of its Orange Line. This 40.7 km track,the longest in the network,connects the eastern and western parts of the bustling metropolis,offering residents a faster and more efficient way to navigate the city.

The Orange Line, which runs along Madina Road and Prince Saad Bin Abdul Rahman I Road, boasts 32 stations. Five are now operational, including Jeddah Road Station, Tuaik Station, al-Doh Station, Harun Al-rashid Road Station, and Al-Nassim Station, a key transfer point connecting to the purple line. The remaining stations are slated to open sequentially, according to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City.

This expansion comes just weeks after the initial launch of the Riyadh Metro’s first phase on November 27th. The project,which aims to become the world’s longest driverless metro system,is already exceeding expectations.

“Residents in densely populated areas of western Riyadh can now utilize the third track, connecting them to the northern capital, airport, and financial center,” said Ahmed Al-Dris, Director General of the implementation of the third group of Riyadh trains.

Al-Dris noted the high demand for the Orange Line, even with only five stations currently operational. He anticipates this demand will surge as more stations open.

Anas Al-Musa, General Manager of Implementation of the First and Second Groups of Riyadh Railways, highlighted the Orange Line’s significance. “This is the longest track in the network, spanning 41 kilometers and connecting the west of the capital with its east,” he explained.

The Orange Line is designed to handle a high volume of passengers,with a capacity of 47 trains capable of transporting 112,000 passengers daily.
