Event Overview

The Riyadh International Book Fair 2024, organized by the Literature, Publication and Translation Authority, began at the campus of King Saud University under the slogan “Riyadh Reads” and will continue till the fifth of October.

The fair features over 2,000 publishing houses from more than 30 countries, distributed in more than 800 pavilions, in addition to the participation of Saudi, Arab and international cultural organizations and institutions.

Guest of Honor: The State of Qatar

The State of Qatar is the guest of honor at the exhibition this year, offering its visitors a unique cultural experience that reflects its literary and intellectual achievements, its authentic cultural heritage, its history and its diverse arts.

A pavilion will display manuscripts and publications, and a diverse and rich cultural program will feature symbols of Qatari culture and the participation of Qatari talents and creators.

Developments and Innovations

This year’s edition has witnessed several developments, including the participation of literary organizations and the creation of a specialized business sector that handles authors’ work and contracts.

A local company will also participate for the first time in local book fairs to provide services to publishers.

Cultural Significance

The State of Qatar was selected as the guest of honor for the exhibition, reflecting Qatar’s leading cultural and intellectual role in the Gulf and Arab cultural scene.

The exhibition aims to share culture and knowledge fields across borders and to promote knowledge production and integration.

Initiatives and Tributes

The exhibition witnessed the return of the “Riyadh Reads French” initiative, which brought together several French publishers specialized in different fields.

A tribute corridor will also be constructed to honor the late poet Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen, the late icon of Saudi and Arab culture and modern poetry.

Cultural Program

Visitors to the Riyadh International Book Fair 2024 will have a unique and diverse knowledge and cultural experience in a cultural program that is rich with more than 200 events and activities suitable for all ages.

The program includes seminars, dialogue sessions, lecture and poetry evenings, and artistic performances.

The Riyadh International Book Fair is the most prominent cultural event in the Kingdom and abroad, and a cultural platform that brings together literary, publishing and translation producers from local and international institutions and publishing houses with readers and those interested in cultural issues and knowledge.

The exhibition hosts a group of literary and artistic personalities and cultural pioneers from the region and the world.

Opening Hours

The exhibition opens its doors to the public for 10 days from 11 am to 12 midnight every day, except Fridays from 2 pm to 12 midnight.
