Sudan National Team Secures Victory in 2025 African Nations Qualifiers
Sudan’s national team kicked off their 2025 African Nations qualifiers campaign with a triumphant 1-0 win against Niger in Group Six.
The Sudan national team shares the group with Niger, Ghana, and Angola, with the top two teams from each group set to qualify for the 2025 African Nations tournament in Morocco.
The decisive goal was scored by Abu Bakr Isa in the 51st minute, securing a crucial three points for Sudan.
Looking ahead, the Sudan national team is set to host Angola on September 9, while Ghana will face Angola in the opening round.
The 2025 African Nations competition is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, featuring 23 teams in addition to hosts Morocco.
Notably, Sudan’s national team failed to qualify for the previous edition of the African Nations, held in Ivory Coast.
However, the team has a rich history in the competition, having qualified nine times, with their most recent appearance in 2021.
Sudan’s national team also boasts a notable achievement, having won the African Nations title in 1970.
