Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter praised the physical development and recent performances of young Wales back-row Kane James, bbc.co.uk reported. The 21-year-old player has secured a regular starting spot at the start of the current domestic campaign following his international debut earlier in the year.
Baxter Notes Rapid Maturity and Physical Growth
James broke into the Exeter squad last season and has started both of the club’s Premiership games so far this campaign. Baxter indicated that the former England Under-20 player is progressing well through his training regimen and physical maturation.
He’s just following that really nice route where he’s improving at a nice rate, he’s having some good impact on games.

The Exeter boss added that James has applied himself diligently off the field to improve his conditioning. According to bbc.co.uk, Baxter noted that the back-row forward is gaining strength and size through quality training and proper nutrition.

He’s getting thicker, that will happen with quality training, making sure he gets his nutrition and all this kind of stuff.

James Earns First Senior Cap for Wales
James switched his international allegiance to the country he grew up in earlier this year. He subsequently earned his first senior cap for Wales in July during a match against Argentina in the Nations Championship.
While praising the player’s explosive speed and ability to break contact, Baxter also pointed out areas for ongoing technical refinement. The coaching staff continues to work with James on maintaining accuracy during high-intensity passages of play.
Kane’s had a really, really good start to the season, we’ve got to just keep working on these little individual bits and pieces – sometimes in his determination to fly around, a little bit of accuracy trips, but that’s the way you want it.
