Robbie Williams Reveals ‘Sense of Shame’ About Nicole Appleton Affair: A Deep Dive into Celebrity Relationships
Robbie Williams discussed his new film, Better Man, on BBC’s The One Show. He described scenes featuring his past relationship with Nicole Appleton as the hardest to watch. Williams portrayed the highs and lows of his life, represented by a CGI chimpanzee.
He stated that Appleton was the only person in the film who did not harm him. He expressed regret, saying, “I feel a sense of shame that I was her idiot boyfriend at the time. She didn’t deserve that, she’s a good person.” The film dramatizes their relationship from 1997 to 1999.
Williams has been married to Ayda Field since 2010 and they have four children. Appleton was married to Liam Gallagher from 2008 to 2014 and they share a son named Gene. She also has a daughter, Skipper, from her relationship with Stephen Haines.
On the choice to use a CGI chimpanzee to depict him, Williams said he appreciates eccentric ideas. The film’s director, Michael Gracey, previously worked on The Greatest Showman. Gracey revealed that Williams helped convince Hugh Jackman about the film’s music.
Better Man will be released in the UK on December 26.
