Barcelona are actively considering a summer move for Atlético Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth as a potential long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski, with the club initiating contact with the Spanish side over the Norway international’s availability.

The interest in Sorloth comes as Lewandowski’s future at Camp Nou remains uncertain, with the 37-year-old Polish striker reportedly reconsidering his contract situation ahead of his 38th birthday. Barcelona president Joan Laporta had previously identified Atlético’s Julian Alvarez as a favoured target for the number nine position, but that pursuit has cooled due to Manchester United’s high valuation of Marcus Rashford, redirecting focus toward more feasible options.

Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s head coach, is said to prioritise a striker with proven La Liga experience who can play with his back to goal, a profile that Sorloth fits according to reports from Marca. Standing at 1.95m, the Norwegian has been a persistent threat against Barcelona, scoring seven goals in 15 appearances while representing Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Atlético Madrid.
