Since Sawyer Left the Morning Program
Sawyer worked on Good Morning America from 1999 until 2009, when she left the show to host ABC World News. Roberts joined the program in 2002, working alongside Sawyer for seven of those ten years. During Sawyer’s final regular broadcast in 2009, Roberts publicly thanked her colleague for the profound personal and professional impact she left on the show and its global audience.
I’ve had the privilege of working with you seven of the 10 years that you’ve been on this program and such an impact this woman has had on my life, personally and professionally. Your body of work—you have made such a difference, not just in our lives but in the lives of people all around the world and here at home.

Years after that departure, Sawyer praised Roberts’ journalistic integrity and bright disposition in a 2014 interview with Glamour. Sawyer noted that Roberts looks straight at the truth and brings a sense of life and joy to any room she enters.

Wherever Robin goes there’s more life in the room, more joy. There’s more of a sense that together we can move the horizon.
