Robusta coffee increased sharply

Coffee prices today (August 28) in the domestic market increased slightly, up about 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently fluctuating between 119,400 – 120,400 VND/kg. Currently, the average purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces is 120,100 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Nong province is 120,400 VND/kg.

Specifically, the coffee purchase price today in Gia Lai province (Chu Prong) is 120,200 VND, in Pleiku and Ia Grai the same price is 120,100 VND/kg; in Kon Tum province the price is 120,200 VND/kg; in Dak Nong province the coffee is purchased at the highest price of 120,400 VND/kg.

The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 119,400 VND/kg.

Coffee prices today in Dak Lak province; in Cu M’gar district, coffee is purchased at about 120,200 VND/kg, and in Ea H’leo district, Buon Ho town, it is purchased at 120,100 VND/kg.

In the world market, Robusta coffee prices increased sharply today, up 4,350 – 4,846 tons. Specifically, the delivery period for September 2024 is 4,846 USD/ton (up 131 USD/ton); the delivery period for November 2024 is 4,648 USD/ton (up 135 USD/ton); the delivery period for January 2025 is 4,469 USD/ton (up 129 USD/ton) and the delivery period for March 2025 is 4,350 USD/ton (up 130 USD/ton).

Vietnam is currently the world leader in Robusta coffee exports. From the beginning of 2024 to August 15, 2024, Vietnam exported nearly 1.02 million tons of coffee, earning 3.8 billion USD. Compared to 2023, the export volume decreased by 12.1% but the value increased by 37.1%. In the first 10 months of the 2023-2024 crop year, Vietnam exported more than 1.3 million tons of coffee, accounting for 90% of the crop output and down 12.4% compared to the previous crop year.

Due to the shortage, coffee export prices have skyrocketed, reaching a record $5,293 per tonne in early August, up 6.9% from July. Coffee export prices are expected to continue to rise due to the impact of drought on global coffee supplies.
