Ministry of Internal Affairs to Petition for Dissolution of United Promotion Party
(Central News Agency reporter Chen Junhua, Taipei, 7th) The Ministry of Internal Affairs will petition to disband the Unified Promotion Party. Interior Minister Liu Shifang said political parties should not develop harmfully, urging the Constitutional Court to decide to dissolve them.
The Ministry of the Interior said in a press release yesterday that the United Promotion Party has systematically and organizationally organized for China’s development in Taiwan, accepted Chinese funds to interfere in elections, disrupted public order and violated people’s right to assembly, which is clearly endangered. In a free democratic constitutional order the party will investigate and handle the matter according to the political party, obtain evidence and apply to the Constitutional Court for dissolution.
The Legislative Yuan’s Internal Affairs Committee held the first preliminary review meeting of the “Land Planning Law Draft Amendment” today and invited Home Minister Liu Shifang, Minister of Agriculture Chen Junjie and others to attend.
In an interview before the meeting, Liu Shifang said that Taiwan’s democratic society knows that political parties should not develop harmfully, adding that additional provisions in the Political Party Act and Constitution stipulate that the Constitutional Court will decide to dissolve the organization.
As for Zhang Futang, chairman of the United Promotion Party, he said that he will file a petition, saying that hundreds of people have committed crimes, so those people should be arrested and the private industry should be held personally responsible. “Why should the Ministry of Internal Affairs cancel us?”
Liu Shifang said that what Zhang Futang mentioned was an administrative ban, but whether important party members accepted funds from hostile powers on the other side of the Taiwan Strait, which would be harmful to the existence of the Republic of China and Taiwan’s free and democratic constitutional order, the Ministry of Interior is a Zhang Futang said that the constitutional request is a decision on the dissolution of the court, not as an administrative sanction.
Liu Shifang noted that various evidences are being collected recently, the Chiayi District Prosecutor’s Office noted that an important member of the United Propaganda Party has received NT$74 million in Chinese funds and is involved in activities in Taiwan that are not compatible with the development of party politics. Such evidence emerges more slowly than part of the verdict in a criminal case.
In addition, the Land Planning Law will be enacted on April 30, 114, but Kuomintang legislators Ding Xuezhong, Lu Yuling, Lin Siming, Ma Wenjun, Zhang Jiajun, Xu Yuzhen, non-party legislator Chen Chaoming and Democratic Progressive Party legislators Wu Qiming and Liu Jianguo proposed to postpone the work schedule of county and city land functional zoning maps for another two years and change the implementation period from four years to six years, respectively.
Liu Shifang said that the Ministry of the Interior still operates according to the law, and currently each county and city will announce the land effective zoning map on May 1 next year, and the Ministry of the Interior and related ministries will announce the completion of 23 sub-prescribed laws before the end of the year.
