Israel and Lebanon Engage in Fierce Exchange of Fire

Israel and Lebanon continued to exchange fierce fire on the 22nd. Israeli warplanes launched the most violent bombardment of southern Lebanon in the past year, targeting 290 Hezbollah targets, including thousands of rocket launchers.

Hezbollah claimed rocket attacks on military targets in northern Israel. The Israeli army said that from the early morning of the 22nd, more than 100 rockets were fired from Lebanon towards Israel.

Some buildings in Israel were hit directly or affected by falling debris, and four people are known to have been injured near Haifa. Israel has announced that schools will be closed in many places in the north and the Golan Heights are occupied, and restrictions on gatherings have been announced.

Hezbollah Targets Israeli Airbase

Hezbollah posted on its Telegram channel early in the morning on the 22nd that it had launched a rocket attack against Israel’s Ramat David Air Force Base near Haifa in response to “repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon.”

Ramat David Air Base is located approximately 50 kilometers away from the border between Israel and Lebanon and is the most distant target attacked by Hezbollah in Israel since October last year.

According to CNN reports, as tensions on the border between Israel and Lebanon continue to rise, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has postponed his trip to New York, USA to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
