Sir Rod stewart, 80, has canceled several U.S. concert dates due to a bout with the flu. The cancellations come just weeks before his scheduled performance in the legends slot at Glastonbury later this month.
The rock star, who last played the Somerset festival 23 years ago, was slated to perform on Sunday, June 29. He announced the cancellations on Instagram, noting that four dates were scrapped adn two others would be rescheduled. The affected shows were in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada, with the rescheduled dates planned for California.
“So sorry my friends,” Stewart said in his announcement. “I’m devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.” He signed the message “sir Rod,” accompanied by a heartbreak emoji.
Stewart had previously indicated his intention to scale back “large-scale world tours” by the end of 2025, opting instead for performances in more intimate venues. Despite this shift, he affirmed his enthusiasm for his upcoming Glastonbury appearance, stating he was “proud, ready and more than able to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury.”
During an appearance on That Peter Crouch Podcast,Stewart mentioned his Glastonbury set was initially planned for an hour and 15 minutes on the Pyramid Stage.He requested an additional 15 minutes, noting that his usual performances extend beyond two hours.
