Rodríguez Unleashes Fury: 11 Strikeouts Fuel Arizona’s Dominant Win Over Colorado
Arizona Diamondbacks Avoid Series Sweep with 9-4 Win Over Colorado Rockies
Corbin Carroll’s impressive performance, including two home runs, helped the Arizona Diamondbacks secure a 9-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies, avoiding a series sweep.
Eduardo Rodríguez pitched 6 1/3 innings, earning his third win of the season and setting a new season high with 11 hits. He allowed five hits and two earned runs, marking his first win since August 20.
Diamondbacks’ Strong Offense
Randal Grichuk also homered and added a double, while Christian Walker drove in two runs with a single and a sacrifice fly. Pavin Smith’s three-run double in the ninth inning sealed the win for the Diamondbacks.
Arizona, the defending American League champion, matched its win total from last year and moved a half-game ahead of the New York Mets for the second of three NL wild-card spots.
Rockies’ Efforts Fall Short
The Rockies, last in the standings, managed to score with two-run singles from Ezequiel Tovar and Sam Hilliard. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Diamondbacks’ strong offense.
The Diamondbacks took an early 6-0 lead against Austin Gomber (3-11), who left after two innings in his shortest outing of the season. He allowed six runs, earned five, on six hits, including two home runs by Carroll and Grichuk’s in the second inning.
Notable Performances
Gabriel Moreno went 2 for 5 with an RBI, and Eugenio Suárez went 1 for 5 with an RBI for the Diamondbacks. Ezequiel Tovar went 1-for-4 with two RBIs for the Rockies.
