Hawks ‌Fall to Springfield on Senior Night

BRISTOL,R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestling team suffered a 34-17 loss to Springfield College​ on Friday evening in the Campus Rec Center Gymnasium during their Senior ​Night party.

The⁤ Pride jumped out to an early lead wiht Lucien Perla defeating Gordon Murray ⁢by major decision at 157 pounds. Though, the Hawks‍ quickly responded as Matt Lucas pinned Matthew Duquette in the third period at 165 pounds, giving RWU a‌ 6-4 advantage. Springfield⁢ regained the lead with a pin by Dequire ​over Jayden Curley⁢ at 174 pounds.Myles Leonard extended ⁤Springfield’s lead with a‍ pin over Michael Forte at 184 pounds.⁤ spencer Fetrow earned six points for the Hawks via medical forfeit ⁢at 197 pounds.

At halftime, Roger Williams honored six seniors: Spencer‌ Fetrow, Michael Forte, Matt‍ Lucas, Anthony ostrander, Christopher Tringali, and Paul Trombi.

Returning to‍ action, ⁢Springfield’s Benjamin katz secured an 11-5⁢ decision over Jayden Toppan. Jack Callahan ​and Jaden Colwell added to the Pride’s lead with pins over Zachary Henault and Maceo Eramo, respectively.

Ryan kozdra clinched the victory for Springfield with a 7-4 decision over Shaun McLaughlin⁢ at‌ 141 pounds. ‌Nick Fatone closed out the match for the Hawks with a tech fall victory over his opponent at 149 pounds.

The ‍Hawks (5-2, ‌1-1 NEWA) will host the Scott Viera Open on Saturday,⁢ January 14th, at 9:00 am in the Campus Rec Center Field ​House. Their next dual meet will be on Saturday, January 4th, against king’s and New England College.
