Pregnant Woman Found Dead in Malaysia, Husband Arrested
KOTA TINGGI, Malaysia – A 34-year-old Rohingya woman, seven months pregnant, was found dead with severe head injuries at her rented home in Kampung Makam on Thursday, February 13, 2026. Police have arrested her 35-year-old husband, also a Rohingya national, in connection with the death.
Authorities were alerted to the incident at approximately 7:00 AM local time. A team of police officers immediately responded and launched an investigation, leading to the suspect’s apprehension near the scene at 7:30 AM, according to Kota Tinggi police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman.
Initial investigations suggest the woman was bludgeoned with a blunt object, believed to be a stone mortar. She sustained critical head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was subsequently transported to Kota Tinggi Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The arrest comes amid reports of accusations of infidelity leveled by the husband, who allegedly claimed the unborn child was not his. According to Atikah Sulaiman, the property owner, the suspect arrived at her home early Thursday morning with their four-year-old daughter, appearing calm and showing no visible signs of involvement in the tragedy.
“He came as if nothing had happened, his clothes clean, no trace of blood,” Sulaiman recounted. “He even drank from a juice box with his child. He told my husband that he wanted to report his wife for having another man and claimed that the seven-month-old baby in her womb was not his. When my husband asked where his wife was, he said, ‘She’s in the room, I have already killed her.’ At first, we thought he was joking. Then my husband went to their house and found her covered in blood and lifeless.”
The couple had been renting the property for five years. Sulaiman added that the suspect and his wife had recently returned from Kuala Lumpur, where the husband had been receiving treatment for mental health issues. She noted that he had been unemployed since their return, and his wife had informed her husband about his ongoing mental health struggles.
Superintendent Yusof Othman confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Investigators are currently working to establish a definitive motive for the killing.
The incident has deeply shaken the local community. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses and more information becomes available.
