Rolling into Action: Mito City Sports Festival Judo Tournament Takes Center Stage
The 63rd Mito City Sports Festival Civic Competition Judo Tournament was held.
Mito City is striving to create an environment where people can get involved in sports in a variety of ways, including “sports to play”, “sports to watch”, and “sports to support”.
As part of this effort, we hold the Mito City Sports Festival Citizen Competition in various competitions to promote sports, improve competitiveness, improve health, and promote community.
At today’s judo tournament, elementary school and junior high school students from both within and outside the city participated and competed using the techniques they had trained on a daily basis.
It is well known that judo is a traditional Japanese art, but in recent years the number of people competing, including children, has been decreasing.
On the other hand, judo is a sport that emphasizes the growth of the mind, technique, and body, so it is unique in that it is a competition that allows you to hone your mental abilities, such as etiquette and sensitivity, which are important for human beings.
We would like to continue to promote the appeal of judo by holding various competitions in the future.
We hope that all of our athletes will continue to develop strong bodies and strong mental fortitude through judo, and that they will be able to play active roles as future leaders.
I wish all the players the best of luck.
