Roman Josi: POTS Diagnosis – Predators News
Josi Diagnosed With POTS, Expected to Play Role Next Season
Updated June 18, 2025
Nashville Predators defenseman roman Josi, 35, was diagnosed with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) near the end of the 2024-25 season, the team announced Wednesday. He has been undergoing treatment.
The team expects Josi to return to the ice for the 2025-26 season with continued treatment and management of the condition. POTS causes an abnormally fast heart rate when transitioning from sitting or lying down to standing, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Josi’s 2024-25 season was cut short. He only played in 53 games, missing the last two months after sustaining a concussion from a hit by Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett on feb. 25. That game was his last of the season.
Josi said in an interview Tuesday that the POTS diagnosis came after a check-up for his concussion. He added that he is feeling better since starting treatment.
The Swiss native recorded nine goals and 29 assists in his 53 games, his 14th season. He had a career-low -26 plus-minus rating.
What’s next
josi will continue treatment for POTS with the expectation of resuming his role on the ice for the Predators in the upcoming 2025-26 season.
