Predators’ Josi Expected at Camp; haula Returns to Nashville

Nashville Predators fans received positive news regarding captain Roman Josi. General Manager Barry Trotz announced that Josi, diagnosed with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) late last season, is responding well to treatment and is expected to participate in training camp this September. Trotz stated that josi’s continued management and treatment should allow him to continue his hockey career.
Josi, who turned 35 in June, was limited to 53 games last season due to a concussion sustained in february against the Florida Panthers.Despite the setback, he was among the first players named to Switzerland’s Olympic team for the 2026 Winter Games in Italy. josi is currently under an eight-year, $72 million contract that extends through the 2027-28 season. The defenseman has played 962 career games, amassing 190 goals and 534 assists.
In a separate move, the Predators addressed their forward depth by acquiring Erik Haula from the New Jersey Devils. The Predators traded defenseman Jeremy Hanzel and a fourth-round pick in next week’s draft to secure Haula, who previously played for nashville. Haula,a veteran of 759 NHL games,has played for several teams,including Minnesota,Vegas,Carolina,Florida,Boston,and New Jersey.
Haula, 34, recorded 21 points and 39 penalty minutes in 69 games with the Devils last season. The forward also registered 101 hits and blocked 35 shots. The Predators now hold nine selections in the 2025 NHL draft, which begins June 27.
