Romano: Reds Transfer ‘Close’ – Club-to-Club Agreement Done
Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal: Liverpool Striker ‘Close’ to Saudi Move as Alexander isak Deal Gains Momentum
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is reportedly on the verge of a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal,with a ‘verbal agreement’ already in place between the clubs. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed the development, signaling a potential shake-up to Arne Slot’s attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.
The proposed transfer comes after Nunez struggled to cement a consistent starting role at Anfield last campaign, beginning just eight Premier League matches and appearing as a substitute on 22 occasions. Despite contributing five goals and two assists in 30 appearances, the Uruguay international found himself increasingly peripheral under Slot, prompting speculation about his future.
Former Liverpool defender Markus Babbel recently suggested a change of scenery could benefit the 26-year-old. “The problem with darwin Nunez is that he misses too many chances,” Babbel stated last month. “I think it’s got to the point where Arne Slot has lost confidence in him. I think the best thing for Nunez would be to move on from Liverpool… Serie A or La Liga would be fantastic leagues for him, because the defending isn’t the best in Italy and Spain.”
However, it appears Nunez’s next destination will be the Saudi Pro League, contingent on agreeing personal terms with Al-Hilal.Romano reported via X (formerly Twitter): “EXCLUSIVE: Al Hilal are close to getting Darwin Nunez deal done after verbal agreement in place with Liverpool. Club to club agreement is done, while Al Hilal are in talks with Darwin over personal terms. Decision up to Nunez but talks underway, Inzaghi wants him.”
Liverpool Eye Alexander Isak as Replacement
Liverpool are now poised to reinvest the funds from Nunez’s potential sale into bolstering their attacking ranks, with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak emerging as a prime target. The Sweden international has reportedly informed the Magpies of his desire to join the Reds this summer.
The pursuit of Isak has received a significant boost, with reports suggesting Newcastle have performed a ‘transfer U-turn’ and are now willing to consider offers for the striker, provided they can secure a replacement.
Liverpool’s attacking prowess was undeniable last season, leading the Premier League in goals scored under Slot’s guidance. The potential arrival of Isak would further strengthen their forward line, offering a different profile to Nunez and complementing the recent signing of Hugo Ekitike.
