Romy, Oliver Sim and Jamie xx Perform First Full Gig Since 2018

The xx have officially ended an eight-year hiatus from live performances, marking the start of a new chapter for the trio with a series of sold-out comeback shows in Mexico City. Romy, Oliver Sim, and Jamie xx performed their first full gig together since July 2018 on April 3, 2026, at the Pepsi Center WTC.

The performance served as the first of three scheduled dates at the Mexico City venue. During the show, the band addressed the crowd, stating that the three of them had specifically decided that Mexico was the right place for their reunion.

Setlist and Performance Details

The band opened the event with Crystalised from their 2009 debut album. The 19-song setlist spanned the group’s three studio albums and incorporated solo material released by the members during their time apart.

The performance included a rotation of solo tracks, featuring Jamie xx’s Loud Places, Oliver Sim’s GMT, and Romy’s Enjoy Your Life. Other fan favorites performed during the night included Islands, Say Something Loving, I Dare You, and Intro.

The show concluded with a three-song encore consisting of Night Time, Sunset, and Infinity.

Path to Reunion

While the Mexico City show is their first full concert together since 2018, the members have appeared together informally in the intervening years, most notably during a Jamie xx set at Glastonbury in 2024.

The band began teasing a return to the stage and new music in March 2025 by sharing rehearsal footage on Instagram. This followed comments made by Jamie xx in June 2024, where he noted that the group had been back in the studio and that the process felt like old times.

In November 2025, the group released a digital deluxe edition of their self-titled 2009 debut album, which included covers and bonus tracks.

Upcoming Tour Dates

The Mexico City residency is the precursor to a broader summer festival run. The xx have several high-profile appearances already lined up for the 2026 season, including:

• Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City
• Outside Lands in San Francisco
• Primavera Sound

Romy has also indicated that the band is open to trying new things in the studio, while maintaining a sound that remains characteristic of the group.
