# Rook Room Game ⁤Lounge ⁢celebrates Grand Opening, Earns LGBTQ+ Business Certification

The Iowa LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a vibrant ribbon-cutting ceremony for the much-anticipated Rook Room ​Game lounge, a new hub for board game ⁣enthusiasts and cafe-goers ⁢alike. Located at 300 S.W. Fifth St., the ‌Rook room officially opened its doors ​in late May, quickly becoming a popular spot⁢ in the community.

During the celebratory event, Chad Johnston of the iowa⁢ LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce⁤ proudly ​announced ⁢a significant milestone for the‍ Rook ⁢Room: it is now‍ the 12th business in Iowa to be officially ⁤certified as an LGBT business enterprise‌ by the National⁣ LGBT Chamber of Commerce.This prestigious​ certification places the Rook Room among a distinguished group of over 2,100 certified businesses⁢ nationwide, opening doors to valuable programs, training opportunities, and grants ⁤designed to support and grow LGBTQ+-owned enterprises.

Co-owner Annelise tandeski ​shared ​that achieving this ⁣certification was a testament to their⁣ dedication, noting that the couple invested three years into navigating the intricate submission process. “It was a thorough process, but we were committed to ⁢meeting all the requirements,” ⁢tandeski commented. “We believe in the mission of the National⁢ LGBT Chamber​ of Commerce and are thrilled to be recognized.”

The Rook Room offers a unique blend⁣ of ​in-store gaming experiences and a ‌cozy cafe atmosphere, ​serving a delightful selection of drinks and snacks.Since its opening, the lounge has seen ​a steady stream of visitors, with groups of⁣ friends gathering to enjoy a wide array of ⁤card and board ⁣games, as well as⁤ tackling⁢ challenging puzzles on the provided tables. The convenient location, situated kitty-corner from the Science Center of Iowa, also makes it a ⁢perfect destination for families.⁣ “We’ve been⁣ delighted by the response,” Tandeski ⁤added. “Parents often bring their children ‌by after a visit to the Science​ Center, and it’s‍ wonderful to see⁤ the space filled with laughter and friendly competition.”
