Wayne Rooney Scores Brilliant Free Kick in Manchester United Legends Match
Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney expressed his great joy in returning to the field and scoring a goal after appearing in the “Red Devils” Legends match against Scottish Celtic Stars.
Old Trafford witnessed an exhibition match between Manchester United and Glasgow Celtic legends, including Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Wes Brown, and Wayne Rooney, who was one of the heroes of the clash.
Rooney scored a brilliant free kick which went into the net during the match, with all proceeds from the match going to the Manchester United Charitable Foundation.
Rooney looked upbeat after the match, speaking to MUTV: “Yes, I’m good with the ball at my feet, but it’s just about running. I wanted to shoot more, but I also wanted to keep the ball.”
He added: “It’s a bit scary to come back, to be honest. It’s my first match in a long time. It’s always great to see the team-mates I’ve played with and some players I haven’t played with.”
Wayne Rooney is currently coaching Plymouth FC in the English Premier League as they prepare to face Sunderland on September 14.
