Bethel Church Celebrates 44th Anniversary of ‘Today’s Bread’ Ministry
Bethel Church in Maryland, led by Pastor Baek Shin-jong, held a special Sunday service on the 8th to commemorate the 44th anniversary of the publication of ‘Today’s Bread.’ Dr. Matt Lucas, the representative of ‘Today’s Bread,’ was invited to speak, and the time was spent looking back on the ministry of ‘Today’s Bread’ and emphasizing the importance of God’s Word.
Two Ways of Life: Rooted in God’s Word or Blown Away by Sin
Representative Matt Lucas presented two ways of life using Psalm 1:1-3 as the text. The first way is to live according to the Word of God. He explained, “A life rooted in the Word of God is like a tree planted by streams of water.” He continued, “This tree bears fruit in its season, its leaves do not wither, and everything it does prospers,” emphasizing the blessed life of those who live while meditating on the Word of God.
On the other hand, Representative Lucas warned that “those who do not follow the word of God will be like chaff blown away by the wind and will eventually end up in destruction.” He emphasized that “a life that turns away from the word of God and follows the path of sin will ultimately lead to futility and destruction,” and urged people to return to a life centered on God.
Reflection and Renewal
Through his sermon, he asked questions to our congregation. First, “What path is your life taking?” Second, “What are you rooted in?” Third, “Is your life bearing fruit?” The congregation had time to reflect on their own journey of faith and realize that they must find the right direction in the Word of God.
Pastor Baek Shin-jong said after the service, “Today’s Bread has been a ministry that has provided daily spiritual food to Christians around the world for 44 years and has been a great strength to many. Like the sermon of CEO Matt Lucas today, I hope that we all live a life rooted in the Word of God and following His guidance.”
The Ministry of ‘Today’s Bread’
‘Today’s Bread’ is a representative Christian media that distributes daily Bible meditation materials to the world, and has provided spiritual food through the Word of God to many people. This commemorative service reaffirmed the meaning of the ‘Today’s Bread’ ministry, and it became an opportunity for Bethel Church members to once again be deeply rooted in the Word of God.
