Rosalía in Lisbon: Redefining Pop and Cultural Fusion

Rosalía has brought her orchestral “Lux” tour to Lisbon, Portugal, for two sold-out performances at the MEO Arena on April 8 and April 9, 2026. The concerts mark the artist’s fifth visit to the country since 2017 and serve as a presentation of her fourth studio album, Lux.

The “Lux” project represents a significant musical shift for the 33-year-old Catalan artist. Departing from the reggaeton-influenced pop of her previous work, the album features 18 tracks recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra under the conduction of Daníel Bjarnason.

An Experimental Performance

The Lisbon shows are described as an experimental spectacle divided into four acts. The production blends elements of a living painting, experimental theater and a ballet musical, creating what has been characterized as a spiritual and dramatic atmosphere.

The tour, which was announced in December 2025, is the largest of Rosalía’s career. It consists of 57 scheduled performances across 17 countries in Europe, North America, and South America. The tour began on March 16, 2026, in Décines-Charpieu, France, and is scheduled to conclude on September 3, 2026, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

For the Lisbon dates, the MEO Arena—the largest venue in the country—opened its doors at 19:00, with the performances starting at 20:30. Based on previous stops in Madrid, Switzerland, and France, the shows are expected to last between 90 minutes and two hours.

Collaborations and Cultural Impact

The “Lux” album features a diverse array of collaborators, including Björk, Estrella Morente, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Yahritza, and the Escolania de Montserrat. A central point of interest for the Portuguese audience was the inclusion of a duet with fado legend Carminho on the album.

Beyond the recorded collaborations, the live experience in Lisbon included additional guest appearances. Kika Nazareth joined Rosalía on stage during the concert series, adding to the cultural intersection of the event.

To engage with the local fan base, an interactive installation was set up at Centro Vasco da Gama on the day of the performance. A giant white mantle was provided from 11:00 to 20:30 for attendees to leave messages for the artist.

Production Details

The scale of the production is reflected in the venue’s capacity, with 20,000 tickets sold for each night. The “Lux” tour underscores Rosalía’s transition into more avant-garde territories of pop, utilizing a full orchestra to redefine her sound.
