Rose in Full Bloom: NBA Legend Derrick Rose Calls Time on Illustrious 16-Year Career
Derrick Rose Announces Retirement from Basketball
Derrick Rose, the former NBA point guard, announced his retirement from basketball on social media, sharing a heartfelt letter to his “First Love” – the sport that has given him strength and taught him perseverance.
Rose’s illustrious career began in 2008 with the Chicago Bulls, where he led the team to multiple playoff appearances as the No. 1 pick. In his third season, he made history as the youngest annual MVP winner, becoming a hero to the city of Chicago. However, injuries plagued his career, and he was traded to the New York Knicks in 2016. He later played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Rose requested his release from the Memphis Grizzlies, ultimately deciding to retire at 35, ending his 16-year career. This unexpected decision marks the end of an era for the once-dominant ”Wind Rose.”
