Diederik Samsom has been nominated as the informateur to lead the process of forming a new coalition government in Rotterdam, according to reporting from pzc.nl.

The appointment comes as the party PRO, which is operating under a new name, seeks to establish a governing coalition. Representatives for PRO have indicated that the process will be tough negotiations, as reported by AD.nl.

Coalition Friction and Party Opposition

The coalition process has been marked by significant tension, particularly regarding the potential partners of the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). De Telegraaf reports that Leefbaar Rotterdam has expressed anger over the possibility of a coalition involving the VVD, PN, and Denk.

In response to these potential alignments, Leefbaar Rotterdam suggested that such a move would be equivalent to signing at all the leftist crosses.

Leefbaar Rotterdam has also issued a formal reaction to the advice provided by the scout (verkenner) tasked with the initial exploration of coalition options.

VVD and PRO Compatibility

Separate from the friction involving PN and Denk, the viability of a partnership between the VVD and PRO is under scrutiny. Rijnmond has highlighted that the two parties differ on several key themes, raising questions about whether they can effectively govern Rotterdam together.
