Rotterdam Shooting Spree: Police Offer Reward for Information
Rotterdam on Edge After Third Shooting in Two Weeks
Rotterdam, Netherlands - Fear grips the Ijsselmonde neighborhood of Rotterdam after an 81-year-old man was shot Thursday morning, marking the third shooting in the area in just two weeks. Police are offering a €30,000 reward for data leading to the arrest of the suspected gunman.
The latest victim was leaving a pharmacy around 10 a.m. when he was shot and seriously injured. He is currently hospitalized.
“At three middle-aged men have been shot strengthens the theory of random victims, but we don’t know for sure as we don’t know who the shooter is, or what the motive is,” a police spokesperson said.
The shootings have left residents shaken and fearful.
“In twelve days, three men have been shot. We believe the same perpetrator is responsible,” said Nathalie, a local resident, to The Telegraaf. “The thought that it might vrey well be three different people is even more frightening. I feel unsafe.”
Another neighbor echoed Nathalie’s sentiments, telling The Telegraaf, “There’s probably a madman going around shooting men at random. It’s very scary that they are the target.”
Police are working tirelessly to apprehend the suspect and bring an end to the violence plaguing the community.
