A Legacy of music and Movement
Roucas Country Attitude, a traditional country dance club based in Vitrolles, France, fosters a community built on sharing, mutual support, respect, and, above all, the joy of dancing. Founded in 2003 and currently operating out of the Frescoule room, the association is dedicated to promoting both country music and the art of country dance.
The roots of country dancing trace back to the 18th century in the Appalachian Mountains. It emerged from a unique blend of local, syncopated musical traditions with the Irish and Scottish folklore brought by settlers, creating the foundational rhythms of the genre.
Passing the Torch
The club’s founders, Irène and Jean Hérisson, have transitioned leadership to Chantal cadiou, who now serves as president. Under Cadiou’s direction, Roucas Country Attitude remains committed to its core mission: to maintain and develop the musical and cultural heritage of country dance, not only within Vitrolles but also throughout the surrounding area around the Etang de Berre.
Community and Conviviality
Roucas Country Attitude embodies the spirit of country dance, emphasizing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. The club’s activities contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of the Bouches-du-Rhône department.
