Seamie Heffernan, 52, riding Get It, defied the odds to win the Wokingham Handicap. The 28-1 shot, trained by George Baker, edged out favorite More Thunder in a close finish.
Charlie Appleby, trainer for Godolphin, celebrated his first Royal Ascot victory since 2022 with Rebel’s Romance winning the Hardwicke Stakes.William Buick rode Rebel’s romance to its eighth Group One victory.
appleby expressed his relief after the win. “He was the horse we needed. I’m just glad to get one on the board ” Appleby said.
In other races, oisin Murphy, riding Quai De bethune, secured a win in the Golden Gates Stakes, giving trainer Andrew Balding a Saturday double. Murphy’s fifth victory placed him second behind Ryan Moore in the jockey standings.
