Ombudsman Claims Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot

Ombudsman,ridden by William Buick,surged to victory⁢ in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot. The​ 7-1‍ shot outpaced Anmaat in the final ​furlong, with See the Fire⁣ finishing third. The race day was marred by a fatal injury to Harry’s Girl in the opening Queen Mary Stakes.

The win marked the second of the day ​for trainers John and Thady Gosden. Los Angeles,the favorite,finished fifth,seemingly affected by a rapid early pace set by‍ its stablemate,Continuous.

John Gosden praised Ombudsman’s ​finishing speed. “It was a case ‍of waiting for the gap, and this horse has an⁤ unusual turn of foot,” Gosden said.
