RTÉ and the Broadcast of Holy Mass
The broadcast marks a shift in RTÉ’s programming, offering religious services too a wider audience. The initiative aims to connect parishes across ireland through televised Mass. RTÉ confirmed the commencement of the broadcasts via a press statement released this morning.
Scratch Films Production Contract
Independent production company Scratch Films is responsible for the broadcasts, having secured a three-year contract with RTÉ in October 2025. The contract details,including financial terms,are outlined in a RTÉ Annual Report filing from November 2025. Scratch Films has previously produced religious programming for various broadcasters.
Archbishop Martin’s Response
Archbishop Eamonn Martin, Primate of All Ireland, publicly welcomed the initiative. In a statement on the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference website, Archbishop Martin expressed his hope that the broadcasts would provide spiritual comfort and connection for people throughout the country, notably those unable to attend Mass in person.
