RTÉ sports presenter Valerie Wheeler has announced that she and her husband, Gavin Young, are expecting their first child. The news was shared via social media through a post featuring the couple during their honeymoon in the Maldives.

The pregnancy announcement follows the couple’s marriage, which took place in September 2025. The wedding was a destination ceremony held in Portugal, attended by family and friends. Wheeler wore an elegant white gown with a long veil and a slight train, while her bridesmaids wore yellow.

Wheeler and Young have been together since the summer of 2022. Their engagement occurred on January 3, 2024, during a holiday in New York. Young proposed at the top of the Rockefeller Center.
