RTÉ to Distribute $1.75 Million in Vouchers to Employees
Dublin, Ireland – IrelandS national public service broadcaster, RTÉ, is set to distribute nearly $1.75 million in non-taxable vouchers to its employees in 2025. Teh move comes as part of an interim agreement reached between RTÉ and the RTÉ Trade Union Group (TUG) while negotiations for a new collective pay agreement continue.
According to tender documents, approximately 1,900 RTÉ employees will receive the vouchers, with an estimated 1,600 receiving the maximum value of $1,000. An additional 200 employees will receive vouchers worth $600, and 100 will receive $200 vouchers.
“The vouchers will issue as early as possible in the new year following a tender process,” an RTÉ spokesperson said.
The voucher program is designed to provide immediate financial support to RTÉ staff while discussions on a long-term pay agreement continue. The interim arrangement will remain in effect until April 30, 2025, when a new collective agreement is expected to be finalized.
The TUG had previously submitted a pay claim seeking a flat rate increase of $1,500, plus a 6% raise for all RTÉ employees.
The tender documents specify that the vouchers will be physical cards,usable across a wide range of sectors to accommodate the diverse needs of RTÉ employees.
