A Night of Music Marred by Violence
A disturbing incident unfolded Saturday night at the Rose Bowl stadium during a performance by Australian electronic music group Rufus Du Sol. A woman was violently attacked by a man in the stands, leaving concertgoers shocked and raising serious questions about security and crowd control at the venue.
video footage of the assault, shared by festival news platform Festive Owl, depicts the man repeatedly punching the woman after knocking her to the ground, while other attendees attempted to intervene.
The Victim Speaks Out
The victim, who has asked for the public’s assistance in identifying her attacker, detailed the harrowing experience in a message also shared by Festive Owl. She stated, “This man punched me in the face, knocking me out and causing meaningful bleeding, while he continued attacking our group.” The attack occurred in Section 12-H,Row 20 of the stadium.
According to the woman’s account, the assault stemmed from an accidental drink spill. She explained that the man initially became upset, stormed off after claiming the spill was intentional, and returned approximately 30 minutes later to launch the violent attack.”I tried to calm the situation and apologized again – and the next thing I remember I woke up in a medical tent an hour later and missed the entire show,” she wrote.
Response from the Band and Law Enforcement
Rufus Du Sol expressed their devastation upon learning of the incident, releasing a statement on social media Monday night. They condemned the behavior as ”fully unacceptable” and urged anyone with information to contact the Pasadena Police Department, who are actively investigating the situation.
”This type of behavior is completely unacceptable anywhere and the fact that this happened at one of our shows was devastating to hear about.Local law enforcement is actively investigating the situation.”
Crowd Control Concerns Echo Past Tragedies
The incident has sparked widespread criticism of the concert organizers, with attendees voicing concerns about inadequate crowd control measures and overall safety. many took to social media to describe long lines, an overcrowded venue, and a general lack of security presence.
Several concertgoers drew parallels to the tragic crowd crush at the 2021 Astroworld Festival, were ten people lost their lives. Derek,a concertgoer,told NBC4 News, “It was honestly out of control. it was a circus. It was not safe, and I’m very angry.”
Christina Molina further described the conditions to KTLA News, stating, “I literally had people pressed up against my back, all of them blocking that entire walkway… Crowd control was nonexistent.”
