Mercedes’ George‍ Russell secured pole position for the Canadian Grand prix, setting the pace in the final Q3 lap. This marks Russell’s second consecutive ⁢pole in Canada,once again alongside Max Verstappen,following their incident at the ⁢Spanish Grand Prix.

During the FP3 session, Alpine’s Franco Colapinto initially set the benchmark, but Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso soon traded fastest laps. Leclerc ultimately lowered the time to 1 minute, 12.843 seconds.

The session was briefly halted ‍after McLaren’s Oscar Piastri clipped the “Wall of Champions,” causing a ⁢right-rear puncture. Nico Hulkenberg also spun and made contact with ⁣the same wall. When⁢ running resumed,Russell posted 1:13.158,only for‍ Lando Norris to briefly take the lead. Russell then reclaimed the top spot with 1:11.950.

Norris⁣ ultimately finished FP3 with the fastest time of 1:11.799, followed by Leclerc, who ended 0.078 seconds behind.
