Russell Westbrook Makes NBA History with 200th Triple-Double Against Grizzlies
Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook made history on Tuesday night by recording the 200th triple-double of his career. This achievement came during a 122-110 win against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Westbrook, who is 36 years old, finished the game with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists. He reached this milestone in the final minutes. His performance included an offensive rebound that helped seal the victory after teammate Dario Saric made a crucial three-pointer shortly after.
After the game, Westbrook expressed his gratitude for the achievement. He acknowledged the significance of the milestone but emphasized the importance of winning over individual accolades. Westbrook said, “It’s a blessing. I’m truly grateful to be able to play the game (well enough) to do that.”
Westbrook holds the record for the most triple-doubles in NBA history, with 19 more than Oscar Robertson and 62 more than Magic Johnson. His teammate Nikola Jokić ranks fourth in career triple-doubles with 136, while LeBron James has 117.
Westbrook’s historic accomplishment is notable for both its number and his longevity in the sport. His teammate Julian Strawther remarked on the significance of Westbrook’s record. He noted, “Two hundred triple-doubles is a lot. I don’t even know if I’ve got 200 career games.”
The game ball was presented to Westbrook after the game in recognition of this achievement, marking a special night for the player and his teammates.
