George Russell Wins, Max Verstappen Second,⁤ Lando Norris Crashes

George⁤ Russell ⁢emerged victorious after a strategic ⁣race,⁤ narrowly defeating ‌Max Verstappen. ‌The race ​concluded under a safety car after ​a dramatic collision involving Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

At the start, Russell and Verstappen maintained their positions, but Andrea Kimi Antonelli overtook ⁢Piastri into Turn 3. further back, Alex Albon‘s‌ wide run ‌through Turns 8 and 9 dropped⁢ him from ninth to 12th. Nico Hulkenberg capitalized, passing‍ both Albon and Franco colapinto. Isack‌ Hadjar also gained a position,‌ slotting into 11th ‍behind Colapinto.

The ​field than settled into tire ⁢management. Russell held off Verstappen, prompting the first pit stops⁢ on Lap⁣ 13.‍ Verstappen pitted,⁢ followed by Russell, Antonelli, and Piastri. The order remained unchanged after ‍these stops. Norris, ​on hard tyres, then led, followed by‍ Charles ‍Leclerc. Leclerc pitted on Lap 29,and Norris followed a‌ lap later.

Russell built​ a five-second lead over Verstappen, who⁢ then found himself under pressure from Antonelli on Lap 37. Red Bull brought Verstappen in ⁢for a second stop to avoid ​being overtaken.Mercedes responded by pitting antonelli ‍the next lap, a move that saw the Italian narrowly lose out to Verstappen upon exiting the⁤ pits.

Russell and Piastri made their second stops on Laps 43 ⁤and 46, respectively, ‍promoting Norris ⁢back into the lead ahead of⁤ leclerc.Norris was on medium tyres, while Leclerc opted for another stint ⁣on hard⁤ tyres. Norris pitted⁤ on Lap 49, switching back to hard tyres, while Leclerc waited until Lap 54‍ to ⁢switch to ‌mediums for his final⁤ stint.

After Leclerc’s pit stop, Russell navigated⁤ through traffic‍ to secure his first victory as the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix.‍ Verstappen ‌finished second, and Antonelli held onto third despite pressure from piastri. Piastri’s ⁢attempts⁢ to‍ overtake Antonelli were hampered by traffic.This allowed Norris to close in, resulting in‍ a​ collision on the main straight on Lap 66. ‍Norris clipped Piastri’s rear,sending him⁢ into ⁣the pit wall.

The incident denied McLaren a podium ⁢finish for⁢ the first time this season. ⁣The race concluded under the safety ⁣car, ‌sealing Russell’s ‌victory.
