George Russell emerged victorious after a strategic race, narrowly defeating Max Verstappen. The race concluded under a safety car after a dramatic collision involving Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
At the start, Russell and Verstappen maintained their positions, but Andrea Kimi Antonelli overtook Piastri into Turn 3. further back, Alex Albon‘s wide run through Turns 8 and 9 dropped him from ninth to 12th. Nico Hulkenberg capitalized, passing both Albon and Franco colapinto. Isack Hadjar also gained a position, slotting into 11th behind Colapinto.
The field than settled into tire management. Russell held off Verstappen, prompting the first pit stops on Lap 13. Verstappen pitted, followed by Russell, Antonelli, and Piastri. The order remained unchanged after these stops. Norris, on hard tyres, then led, followed by Charles Leclerc. Leclerc pitted on Lap 29,and Norris followed a lap later.

After Leclerc’s pit stop, Russell navigated through traffic to secure his first victory as the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Verstappen finished second, and Antonelli held onto third despite pressure from piastri. Piastri’s attempts to overtake Antonelli were hampered by traffic.This allowed Norris to close in, resulting in a collision on the main straight on Lap 66.
