Russia Starts Mass Production of Radiation-Resistant Bomb Shelters
Russia has begun mass production of bomb shelters designed to resist radiation. These shelters, known as KUB-M, aim to protect against various human-made threats and natural disasters, including radiation and shock waves.
This announcement was made by the research institute of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on November 19, 2024. The portable design resembles a reinforced container.
The KUB-M shelters can shield occupants from radiation, bullets, debris, and fire. They are suitable for use in the extensive ice-covered regions of northern Russia. Each standard unit can accommodate up to 54 people, with additional modules available to increase capacity.
The announcement comes as the conflict in Ukraine reaches a critical phase, with Russian troops advancing rapidly. This escalation coincides with the U.S. decision to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles supplied by America to strike deeper into Russia.
The research institute did not link the production of bomb shelters to the current crisis.
