Russia Deploys BMPT-72 Fire Support Vehicles to Ukraine
According to recent reports, the Russian Army may deploy BMPT-72 Terminator 2 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. The BMPT-72 Terminator 2 is the latest generation of Russian-made fire support vehicles in the BMPT family.
The BMPT-72 Terminator 2 version is designed to support tanks and infantry in challenging combat environments. Its flexibility in production allows it to take advantage of the T-72 tank chassis, reducing costs and enabling large-scale production.
The vehicle boasts strong armor and powerful firepower, making it suitable for urban combat and tank support. Although it lacks the advanced armor system of the T-90 tank, the BMPT-72 Terminator 2 can be equipped with modern explosive reactive upgrades to increase its survivability.
The BMPT-72 Terminator 2’s armament includes two 30mm 2A42 automatic cannons, four 9M120 Ataka anti-tank guided missiles, and secondary weapons such as a 7.62mm PKTM machine gun and an automatic grenade launcher.
India Achieves Major Success in Testing Zorawar Light Tank
India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation has announced the successful completion of the first phase of field trials of its Zorawar light tank project. The test was conducted in harsh desert terrain conditions and achieved all set objectives.
The Zorawar light tank is designed to enhance defense capabilities in rugged terrain. Weighing around 25 tonnes, the vehicle is equipped with a Cockerill 3105 turret with a 105mm gun, providing significant firepower to attack armored targets and fortified positions.
The Indian Army plans to induct up to 700 units of the light tank, which would significantly enhance the country’s armored forces’ capabilities in high-altitude areas. The Zorawar is expected to be inducted into service by 2027, with around 354 units to be inducted.
South Africa Becomes One of the World’s Largest UAV Producers
South Africa’s private defense company Milkor has made the country one of the world’s largest producers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with its Milkor 380 medium-altitude, long-endurance UAV.
The Milkor 380 is designed to take off and land autonomously, with a range of 250km via a ground control station. It can be managed at greater distances using satellite communications, allowing it to perform multiple missions, including intelligence gathering, reconnaissance, maritime and border surveillance, as well as strike capabilities if required.
The UAV has a range of over 2,000km and a flight time of 35 hours, with a fuel capacity of 515kg and a payload limit of 220kg. The Milkor 380 can reach speeds of up to 250km/h, with a cruising speed of 110 to 150km/h.
