Russia Urges Citizens to Leave Syria Amid Armed Group Advance
Russian embassy Urges Citizens to Flee Syria Amid Escalating Conflict
Damascus, Syria – The Russian embassy in Damascus has issued an urgent call for Russian citizens to evacuate Syria instantly, citing the rapidly deteriorating security situation. This follows a similar warning issued by the Chinese embassy earlier this week.
The Russian diplomatic mission advised its citizens to utilize commercial flights departing from available airports. In a message posted on Telegram, the embassy stated, “Regarding the challenging military-political situation in Syria, the Russian Embassy in Damascus reminds Russian citizens living in the Syrian Arab Republic of the prospect to leave the country on commercial flights through the current airport.”
This development comes as armed groups make significant territorial gains in Syria, including the capture of Hama, the country’s fourth-largest city. the groups, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, launched a surprise offensive from their stronghold in Idlib over a week ago.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports that over 800 peopel have been killed in the fighting so far. while the Syrian government has not released official casualty figures, the armed groups claim to have killed over 65 Syrian soldiers and officers.
the rapid advance of the armed groups has sparked alarm among foreign governments, prompting them to issue evacuation orders for their citizens. The situation remains highly volatile, with the potential for further escalation and civilian casualties.
“Situation in Syria Demands Immediate Action,” Says Expert Amid Embassy Evacuation Calls
Damascus, Syria – The recent call for Russian citizens to evacuate Syria by its embassy, following a similar warning from the Chinese embassy, highlights the deteriorating security landscape in the country, according to Dr. Anya Petrova,a specialist in Middle Eastern conflict at the International Relations Institute.
In an exclusive interview with Newsdirectory3.com, Dr. Petrova stated, “The rapid territorial gains made by armed groups, particularly the capture of Hama, signify a critical turning point in the Syrian conflict. This escalation demands urgent attention from the international community.”
Dr. Petrova emphasized the meaning of the embassy evacuations, interpreting them as a clear indication of the perceived threat to foreign nationals. “Diplomatic missions rarely issue such strong advisories without concrete evidence of imminent danger,” she explained. ”The decision to urge citizens to leave underscores the severity of the situation.”
When asked about the potential for further escalation, Dr. Petrova stated,”The situation remains highly volatile. The ongoing fighting and the involvement of various armed groups create a complex and unpredictable habitat. The potential for civilian casualties is a grave concern, and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict are crucial.”
