National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man Begins Official Visit to Russia
The plane carrying National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly landed at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow, marking the beginning of a 3-day official visit to Russia.
On the afternoon of September 8 (local time), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly arrived at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow, commencing an official visit to Russia and co-chairing the third meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
The visit to Russia of the National Assembly Chairman took place from September 8 to 10, at the invitation of Chairman of the State Duma, Federal Assembly, Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin and Chairwoman of the Federation Council, Federal Assembly, Russian Federation Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko.
Welcoming National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly at Vnukovo International Airport were: First Vice Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation II Melnikov; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Russia Dang Minh Khoi; officials of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; officials and staff of the Embassy and a large number of Vietnamese people in Russia.
According to the program, immediately after arriving in Moscow, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the delegation will offer flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument and lay flowers at the Unknown Martyrs Monument on the Kremlin wall.
Next, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will visit and meet with officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the community and Vietnamese students studying, working and living in Russia.

This official visit to Russia is the first foreign trip of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in his capacity as Head of the legislative body, and also the first high-level visit of a senior Vietnamese leader right after Russia successfully held the presidential election and completed the Government.
The visit took place right after the phone call between General Secretary and President To Lam and President of the Russian Federation V. Putin on August 8, as well as President Putin’s visit to Vietnam in June.
This is a very important visit, aiming to continue implementing the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress on independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations.

In addition to the goal of promoting cooperation in defense, security, oil and gas – energy, science – technology, culture, tourism; effectively implementing signed bilateral and multilateral agreements, the visit aims to promptly remove major obstacles in cooperation between the two countries on the basis of balancing the interests of both sides, taking into account overall and long-term benefits.
The visit also aims to deepen and further substantiate the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian National Assembly, while affirming that cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies is an important cooperation channel in the overall strategic foreign relations between Vietnam and Russia.
