WASHINGTON – A ‍U.S. special envoy asserts that Russia does not desire to ⁤invade⁤ other European countries, dismissing such fears as unfounded.

Steve Witkoff, U.S.⁤ special envoy for the Middle East, made the⁣ statement in a recent interview.

Asked about ‍claims ⁢that british policymakers were prepared to send‍ troops to⁢ Ukraine‌ to help ⁣secure a peaceful resolution between‍ Moscow and Kyiv, Witkoff suggested they aspired to ‌emulate Winston‍ Churchill, who ⁢cautioned that Russia would dominate Europe.

Reasons Russia Reportedly Does Not Want ⁣to Invade Europe

  1. Europe Has NATO

When asked if Russia intended to invade Europe,⁢ Witkoff responded, 100% no. ‍From my personal ‍perspective it doesn’t make sense. We have something called⁤ NATO ⁤that‍ we do not have in World War II.

  2. Russia Wants Stability

Witkoff stated that ‍Moscow does ‌not ‌want to absorb Ukraine. He compared it to Israel and Gaza, explaining,Why ⁤does Israel⁣ really want to occupy Gaza for the rest‍ of their lives? They ⁤don’t want to. They want⁤ stability there. They don’t ⁣want to deal with it.

Witkoff contends that Russia has⁤ already achieved ‌its objectives in the conflict. They have ⁤reclaimed these five regions. They have Crimea, and‌ they have gotten what they want.So why do they need more? he said.

He⁣ referenced the referendums in 2014 ⁤and ‍2022 where the majority⁢ of voters in Crimea,‌ Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye supported joining Russia.

  3. Russia Agreed on a ⁢Ceasefire with Ukraine

Witkoff’s remarks followed a ⁢face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this ‍month, aimed at⁣ mediating an end to the conflict⁢ in Ukraine. Following the conversation,⁣ he indicated that a comprehensive ⁤ceasefire⁤ could be achieved ⁣in a few weeks, and‍ suggested ⁤the U.S. could ease sanctions against Moscow once an agreement‌ is reached.

Amid⁢ the ongoing conflict, some European leaders⁤ have alleged that Russia plans to⁤ attack⁢ NATO countries within a few years.Putin ‍has dismissed these ⁢claims as⁣ nonsense, stating that ⁤Russia has no interest in doing so.
