Russia, under President Vladimir Putin, is taking unprecedented actions that resemble strategies from the Soviet Union. According to RBC-Ukraine, the country is constructing five factories for solid-fuel rocket engine production. This information comes from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
IISS expert Fabian Ginz highlights that this endeavor is the most ambitious expansion of Russian military production since the Soviet era. Satellite images show activity across various sites.
The effort likely involves upgrading abandoned Soviet facilities and building new infrastructure. Locations for the solid-fuel rocket engines include Altai Krai, Rostov-on-Don, near Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Perm.
Ginz noted that reliable details about the types of engines produced at the Biysk II complex in Altai Krai are still unavailable. However, data from one Russian company indicates they manufacture engines for both Soviet ballistic missiles and the new “Bulava” missiles, capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
