MOSCOW (AP) — A high-ranking member of the Russian Armed Forces General staff died Friday after a bomb detonated in his vehicle in Balashikha,a town near Moscow,according to Russian authorities.
Svetlana Petrenko,a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee,identified the deceased as Gen. Yaroslav moskalik, deputy director of the General Directorate of Operations of the Russian General Staff. Petrenko stated that initial investigations suggest the explosive device was homemade and contained shrapnel.
