A⁢ New Era Begins for teh Tigers

Castleford Tigers⁤ have secured Ryan‍ Carr as their new ⁤head coach, signing him to⁤ a three-year deal beginning with the‍ 2026 season.⁣ The 37-year-old Australian arrives from the St George Illawarra ‍Dragons of the National Rugby League (NRL), where he currently serves as an assistant coach to Shane Flanagan.

From ⁤Assistant to Leader: Carr’s Journey

Carr’s appointment ⁣follows a period of instability ⁣for the tigers, who parted ways with Danny McGuire in July after a disappointing run‍ of just four wins in 18 games. Carr brings a wealth of experience, having previously held coaching positions with Featherstone Rovers⁣ and ⁢Leeds Rhinos in England. He also served ⁤as interim head coach of the Illawarra Dragons in 2023 and⁤ worked alongside Rhinos coach Brad Arthur at Parramatta ⁤Eels.

“I feel ⁢a lot of excitement on the direction that the club is heading in the near future,” Carr told the club website. “It⁤ deserves to be better than where it is indeed, and that’s⁢ where we need to take⁤ it. I feel the room for growth is really fast at the club – I’m excited to get started.”

Facing the Challenge: A Team in‍ Need of Revitalization

Carr inherits a team currently ⁢10th⁤ in the Super League table, having lost 17 of their 22 games this⁢ season. The Tigers are clearly in need⁢ of a turnaround, and Carr’s track record⁢ suggests he’s capable of delivering one. Director of Rugby Chris Chester, currently⁣ leading the team⁢ on an‍ interim basis,‍ believes ‍Carr possesses the qualities needed to succeed. ‍”He’s a highly thought about ⁤coach who ⁢has a grate knowledge of ⁢the game and a great work ethic,” Chester stated.
