Ryanair has reported minor technical issues as the cause of disruptions affecting flights between Kerry Airport and London Luton Airport on consecutive days this week. These issues resulted in both significant delays and a diversion too another UK airport.
On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, the scheduled Kerry-London Luton service, normally departing Farranfore before 11:00 AM, was delayed for approximately seven and a half hours, eventually departing at 6:30 PM due to a technical fault with the aircraft.
Flight Diversion and Passenger Impact
Yesterday, September 5, 2024, the same Kerry to Luton service was diverted to East Midlands Airport in the United Kingdom due to a similar, minor technical issue. A passenger who contacted Radio Kerry reported the diverted aircraft remained at East Midlands Airport for over five hours before continuing to Luton.
The passenger stated the onward flight to Luton took onyl 15 minutes,but the overall delay resulted in an arrival approximately five hours and 45 minutes behind schedule.
Ryanair’s Response and Mitigation Efforts
Ryanair stated that passengers affected by the delays and diversion were notified and provided with refreshment vouchers. To minimize further disruption, the airline arranged for a replacement aircraft to operate the flight to Luton, which ultimately departed later on September 5th.
