At teh beginning of january 2026, AMD officially announced Gorgon Point. This is nothing more than a slight refresh grouping the Strix Point and Krackan Point processors into a single range, with even a little magic trick along the way… According to our colleagues at HKEPC, AMD shoudl also announce soon Gorgon Halo, a slight refresh of the current Strix Halo, these processors with a huge integrated GPU, which are so talked about.
What to expect from this new series? Well, first of all, don’t get carried away because, as with Gorgon Point, it’s a “refresh”. Don’t expect the GPU to move to the RDNA 4 architecture or anything, we’re talking about small differences. A few MHz more on the CPU or GPU (and even then, not for everyone), or even official support for a slightly faster LPDDR5x memory, according to HKEPC the differences would amount to that.
The best thing to do is therefore, without a doubt, to present all this in a table with the supposed Gorgon Halo of the rumor, but also a second table presenting the current Strix Halo as a comparative base. Let’s go!
AMD is preparing a series of Ryzen AI processors, codenamed “Strix Halo,” based on the Zen 5 architecture and RDNA 3.5 graphics. Details on five upcoming models – the AI Max+ 395, AI Max+ 392, AI Max 390, AI Max+ 388, and AI Max 385 – have surfaced.
All five processors utilize the Zen 5(c) CPU architecture and RDNA 3.5 graphics. Core counts vary, with the AI Max+ 395 leading with 16 cores and 32 threads. The AI Max+ 392 and AI max 390 both feature 12 cores and 24 threads, while the AI max+ 388 and AI Max 385 offer 8 cores and 16 threads.
Base and boost clock speeds also differ. The AI Max+ 395 has a base clock of 3.0 GHz and a boost clock of 5.1 GHz.The AI Max+ 392 and AI Max 390 are clocked at 3.2 GHz base and 5.0 GHz boost. the AI Max+ 388 and AI Max 385 both run at 3.6 GHz base and 5.0 GHz boost.
The graphics component across all models is the Radeon 8060S. Further specifications, including power consumption and memory configurations, remain unknown at this time.
