Buffalo Sabres forward Alex Tuch and his wife, Kylie, have donated $50,000 to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Sisters of Charity Hospital. The contribution was made through Tuch’s AT9 Foundation and announced on April 10, 2026.
The donation is rooted in a personal experience involving the couple’s son, Teller. Approximately one year prior to the donation, Teller was treated at the hospital’s Neonatal Critical Care Unit after facing life-threatening complications shortly after birth.
Medical Context and Personal Adversity
According to reports from Buffalo Toronto Public Media, Teller suffered from a collapsed lung three separate times and was not breathing immediately following his birth. Tuch described the experience of monitoring his son’s condition via hospital equipment as a painful, painful process
.

The family spent two and a half weeks at the facility. During this period, Teller’s lungs developed and a puncture in his lung healed, allowing him to return home. Tuch characterized this recovery as a miraculous turnaround and one of the best moments of his life.
I think that we’ve been blessed and lucky enough to be in the situation financially and in other ways with our image, and to try to take that and use it for the better. I think that that’s one of the reasons why I always say that’s one of the reasons why God put me on this earth, is to take every day and maybe make one kid smile or change someone’s life and for the better, not just play hockey.
Alex Tuch
Kylie Tuch expressed gratitude regarding her son’s current health, stating that he is now perfect
and so healthy
.
Philanthropic Structure
The $50,000 gift was presented to the NICU via the AT9 Foundation. This philanthropic vehicle allows Tuch to leverage his professional profile and financial resources to support healthcare services and pediatric care.
The donation aims to provide support to the Sisters of Charity Hospital, specifically targeting the specialized care provided to newborns in critical condition, similar to the care received by Tuch’s son.
