Sabrina Carpenter and Madonna shared heartfelt messages on Instagram following their surprise performance together at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 17, 2026. The pop icons reflected on the milestone collaboration, with Carpenter calling the experience “a privilege I’ll never forget” and Madonna describing it as “a moment in history.”

Carpenter welcomed Madonna onstage during her second weekend headlining set at the festival. The duo performed Madonna’s 1990 hit “Vogue,” a new song believed to be from Madonna’s upcoming album “Confessions on the Dance Floor: Part II,” and the 1989 classic “Like a Prayer.” Carpenter’s Instagram post included a carousel of backstage photos and a caption expressing gratitude for Madonna’s presence, love, and “astrology knowledge,” adding that sharing the stage was “straight out of a dream.”

Madonna responded with her own Instagram post featuring photos from the night, writing, “Still flying high since Friday night at Coachella!” She thanked Carpenter and everyone involved in bringing her upcoming album “Confessions II” back to the festival stage, calling it “such a thrill” and “a moment in history, I will never forget.” In her Stories, Madonna mentioned that her costume from the performance had gone missing.

The performance marked Madonna’s return to the Coachella stage for the first time in more than a decade. During the set, Madonna noted she was wearing the same boots and corset she wore during her 2006 Coachella appearance, calling the moment “a full circle moment (and) very meaningful.” She told the crowd, “Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella… And that was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is to be back 20 years later.”

Carpenter also thanked other guest performers from her set, including Geena Davis, Terry Crews, and her close friend Corey Fogelmanis. Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, shared a video of the performance and reflected on the significance of the collaboration, writing, “20 years since 👑 @madonna first performance at @coachella, a beautiful full-circle celebration.”

The collaboration highlighted Carpenter’s ongoing admiration for Madonna, who has influenced her artistry. Carpenter has previously performed Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” and “Material Girl” in her concerts. The surprise appearance generated widespread attention across entertainment media, with outlets noting the emotional exchange between the two artists as a defining moment of the 2026 festival.
